Children’s Hospital Foundation has been named a recipient of a $100,000 grant from the Presbyterian Health Foundation to increase the endowment for the CHF Adolescent Medicine program.
The foundation’s announcement marks a total of $9 million raised toward a $10 million goal.
“PHF is proud to join many other contributors in this important endowment building effort,” said PHF President Tom R. Gray III. “This comprehensive treatment approach to serving adolescents is filling a public health need in our state – serving many young people, supporting the future of Oklahoma, ultimately enhancing all of our lives.”
PHF has contributed more than $3 million to Children’s Medical Research and Children’s Hospital Foundation since 1985.
The Adolescent Medicine Endowment will support a disordered eating led by Dr. Amy Middleman, OU Medicine physician.
“With the generous support from CHF and the Presbyterian Health Foundation grant, Adolescent Medicine is providing interdisciplinary team care that is the gold standard approach for this age group,” said Middleman. “We provide services from medical, mental health, and dietitian team members to treat illnesses that require time and sub-specialty expertise – disordered eating, menstrual disorders, anxiety, depression, sexual orientation and gender identity issues, and more.”
The $10 million endowment is being established to grow capacity, provide additional medical support and address the annual shortfall in revenue due to mental health benefits not being considered reimbursable expenses by most insurance carriers and Medicaid.
